London-based producer Mark Cake kicks off 2021 with a rework of his first ever release. A song built around contrast, vvv rework expands on the elements of juxtaposition from the original release with organic piano and lush strings set against the backdrop of dark, unsettling beats and disorientating delay.

Mark Cake is an emerging London based multi-instrumentalist and producer with a strong affinity for collaboration currently in the process of curating his own playlist of self written/recorded/mixed songs each featuring a different musical artist. Taking elements from jazz, hip hop and electronic Mark seeks to welds them together with the inspiration he finds with whoever he is collaborating with.

Starting his musical life as a freelance jazz saxophonist fresh out of music college, Mark, the alter ego of Jake Burgess, became a part of many bands across the London jazz scene whilst using his spare time locked away in his room teaching himself to produce. After spending a bit too much time in a self-inflicted musical isolation, Mark found himself craving for collaboration and so started the ‘Mark Cake 2019’ playlist of collaborative songs - releasing a new song each month.

Having recently secured a place on Gilles Peterson’s Future Bubblers artist development scheme, Mark Cake is taking things to the next level for his ‘Mark Cake 2020’ collaborative playlist, taking advantage of the introduction to many like-minded artists that the Future Bubblers scheme has provided him.
